R.I.P. Daisy Brown

Random Things That Don't Fit Anywhere Else Kinda Like Me    8 Comments    ,

I am utterly devastated.  If you’ve followed this blog for a period of time, you’ll know that last year we added three kittens named Penny, Scout, and Daisy to our family after our longtime family members Athena and Orion passed away.  Unfortunately, Daisy passed away suddenly this morning due to what was probably a heart defect.  She was much smaller than Scout and Penny but more than made up for it in spunk.  Her purr was twice as loud as Penny and Scout’s.  She was the first out of the carrier when we originally brought them home – and she didn’t just slowly ease out – she burst onto the scene!

I loved all three of them, but Daisy was extra special to me.  Maybe it was due to her smaller size or her silliness (or maybe even her name), but she made me laugh the most out of all three of them.  If you are friends with me on Facebook, you are familiar with my “I Always Feel Like… Somebody’s Watching Me!” photo series starring Daisy.  Starting as a kitten, she liked to hide and peer out at me.  There’s a back story to this that makes it even funnier.  I plan on creating a Shutterfly book for our family’s Christmas with her pictures, but I would like to share them here too:

In addition to these “I Always Feel Like” pictures, I littered my Facebook timeline with photos of the three of them all curled up together ever since they were kittens.  It will not be the same because of a missing piece.  We didn’t have Crazy Daisy for very long, but she made enough of a mark on our family for it to hurt very deeply now that she’s not with us.  I’ll miss turning around and seeing a little feline face peeping out at me.  We will always miss you, Daisy.

Sweet story of your adorable baby! I’ve enjoyed watching them grow up online. I know I wouldn’t trade all of broken hearts for not having loved my furry kids. I’ve cried harder over kitties than some relatives! We’ll all think of her when we hear her song! Hang in there Amy! You’re such a loving person.

I am so sorry for your loss. We adopted a shelter kitten over five years ago that we named Daisy. She was a calico. We were devastated when she died of FIP before her second birthday.

Ahhhh! I am so sorry! The loss of a pet is like that of a family member…because they are a family member.
