Here’s a clipping from the 1984 Athens Banner-Herald newspaper about our troop selling the most cookies in our council. We were the top sellers for seven years five years in a row at the end of our run! Another memory about that later!
Caroline and Jenny were always neck and neck for who could sell the most cookies. It created a lot of excitement each year – who would be #1?? Would it be Jenny? Or Caroline? Or maybe someone else (ha ha)? I can’t take the tension! The pressure’s too much!
This clipping says they each sold 776 boxes in 1984. I’m pretty sure they sold over a thousand each at some point. And that was all door-to-door and no booth sales! We lived in a college town, so hitting up all of the college students in town was like shooting fish in a barrel.
