Black Holes and Random Patches
There was going to be such a huge gap between the last post and the next one that I thought I’d throw in a quick one just so everybody didn’t think that the Girl Scout Mafia (wearing official scarves, of course) finally caught up to me.
In case you’re not familiar with them, black holes really aren’t holes. Because I don’t feel like coming up with something in my own words, here’s a description from NASA Science:
Don’t let the name fool you: a black hole is anything but empty space. Rather, it is a great amount of matter packed into a very small area – think of a star ten times more massive than the Sun squeezed into a sphere approximately the diameter of New York City. The result is a gravitational field so strong that nothing, not even light, can escape.
April was the outer limits of the black hole, and mid-May is the event horizon, specifically my daughter’s 5th grade class trip to Washington DC. And I’m going on it – taking up all of next week. Oh yeah, and this weekend is our troop trip to Cherokee, NC. We’re leaving Friday. Did I mention I still haven’t recovered from the Junior beach camping trip? Yeah. And the Sunday after I get back from DC is our troop’s end of year bridging ceremony. Plus we’re presenting our Bronze Award project tomorrow to the VFW and thereby turning in our paperwork this Friday morning. And I just remembered that we’re supposed to have our City Slickers schedule together by Monday evening. Which I should be working on now instead of typing this blog post. SERENITY NOW!!
So quickly, because I’m about to have a panic attack – here’s a random patch, and I have no idea what it’s for. Crate stacking?
See you on the other side!
Your troop activities sound fun, fun, fun!! You are making such great memories for the girls. Can’t wait to hear more about your trips and more. 🙂
