Yes… good point! We need all the passionate people entering in, no matter what the worthy cause. I would say NOT to give up. 🙂

This saying rings true for many organizations/activities. When the passionate people become quiet, it is because they are likely leaving, giving up (which will lead to leaving as passionate people don’t just give up and follow along), so on…..

I know for a lot of people/members who are smart and dedicated to their passions, when an organization’s leadership refuses to listen, acknowledge, act, or respect input from its members, the members move on to other places that open their arms to the passion for action, input and vibrant interaction and delivering of a mission. People with passion see dysfunction and try to work with it and try to bring value but with continued dismissal, passionate people are smart enough to dismiss the organization and move on, quietly. This makes the organization leadership happy – to have the squeaky wheel gone but the problems probably still exist. Thus, it isn’t necessarily that the passionate people become quiet, it’s that they have sailed on and thrown their passion (and money and talent) to other causes who embrace and benefit. Maybe the passionate people are lifetime members still going through the motions – quietly doing time until the next hopeful leadership team comes along…. Membership numbers tell the tale of passion moved on. What have you seen happen in your GS council membership numbers over the last 5-10 years? The stories of silence…. the tales they weave.
