Mystery Solved
This blog post is more dramatic if you read it while playing the Unsolved Mysteries theme song. I guess though EVERYTHING is more dramatic with the Unsolved Mysteries theme song playing as the soundtrack. It’s too bad I don’t have Robert Stack narrating this. He died back in 2003, in case you were wondering.
Now that you’ve got mood music, I wanted to share another entry from the Guess the Retired Badge Game. Here’s the other one featuring the Tasha Yar and I’m Kinda Scared to Guess badges.
Our service unit recently inherited a bunch of retired Junior badges. One of them is the Do It Yourself badge which I immediately recognized as one that I earned myself when I was a Junior. And even in 2019, I still had absolutely no idea what this badge was supposed to represent:
I had always just assumed it was a glue bottle and some kind of … something to the right. Like maybe if you broke the green blob, you’d learn how to fix it yourself? And use glue? I had no idea.
So the other day, a leader in my service unit wanted to purchase some of the Do It Yourself badges. She stopped by, and as I was handing them to her, it hit me:
It’s a paint brush and can.
Mystery solved after 36 years.
And now, go back and read the Membership Dues Authority Proposal: There Can Be Only One post while playing the Unsolved Mysteries theme song! It adds a whole new dimension to it!
