Daisy Petal Plans from VTK

Troop Leader Resources    4 Comments    , ,

I’ve served as a mentor to new leaders in our service unit for a few years now, and to get right to the point, the Volunteer Toolkit isn’t for everybody as we all know.  It’s a horse that we’ve beaten to death, so I’m not going to go into its shortcomings and why some new leaders don’t use it. But they should have the opportunity to see the activity plans that are available as a programming option, so to help them out, I pulled them down and consolidated all of them into one document:

Daisy Petal Plans

It features the newly revised petal plans. It comes in at a hefty 61 pages, so get your printer in shape if you want a hard copy. I find it crazy that I received a 4 page document of petal ideas when I started as a Daisy leader in 2010, and now we’re at a 61 page scripted meeting plan. Times change, I guess.

If you see anything that needs to be edited, please let me know.

If there’s any question as to whether I can do something like this, here’s the statement that’s at the bottom of any PDF printout from VTK:

© 2018 GSUSA. All rights reserved. Not for commercial use. This material is proprietary to GSUSA and may be used, reproduced, distributed exclusively by GSUSA staff, councils, Girl Scout volunteers, service units and/or troops solely in connection with Girl Scouting.

I gain no revenue from any of my projects, so there should be no reason why I would receive a C&D from my vantage point. I guess there’s always a risk depending on how GSUSA feels about me offering its material in alternate places, but I see this as filling a need and not as a way to profit or self-promote.

I’ve also created a new category on GSWAC (Not a Council) called Troop Leader Resources for things such as this. I’m transitioning to publishing more resource-based blog posts, and I wanted to gather up the projects I’ve done in one place. I’ll be recategorizing previous blog posts that fit this description soon.

At least they aren’t getting rid of the petals and reinventing that wheel. Be sure your new leaders know they don’t have to follow scripts word for word! Go with what works for their girls.

Friendly and Helpful! Thank you so much for this. I literally cannot find anything I want on the VTK without getting a all white loading page and clicking the show results button half a dozen times and as I’m writing things down, it refreshes and logs me out as unauthorized. So again, Thank you so much in 2023!
