Activity Plans for the Robotics Badges

Some of the most popular posts on my blog are the consolidated Journey plans that I created for the Junior Think Like A _____ series. I believe that there are a lot of leaders who want to access the material, but they don’t want to have to wade through and struggle with Volunteer Toolkit (VTK) in order to find it. So, I decided to do the same with the Robotics badge series for all levels since the booklets that you buy in the store or online don’t offer anything in the way of well… anything, really.

When the Robotics badges were released in 2018, I felt like they were really Journeys in disguise, because they were written so that girls would have to earn all three in a certain order. They were not developed to be earned separately at different times or to earn only one of them.

So with that in mind, I gathered all of the Robotics activity plans from VTK and consolidated them into one document for each level. There’s a lot of repetitive text throughout the series, so I streamlined things and placed that text in the introduction. However, due to the length, I didn’t include any handouts that go along with the activity plans, but you can access them using hyperlinks in the document. So before printing, be sure to open those up and print them out as well! You do not have to log into VTK in order to access the handouts.  Additionally, the original VTK activity plans call for the girls to fill out the exact same survey at the end of each of the three badges, but I rewrote it so that they just fill the survey out once at the end of the third badge.

You should not need a Dropbox account in order to download these plans. Just click on the X in the corner of the pop-up box that appears and then select “Download” at the top of your screen.

If you see any type-os, let me know. If you’re wondering if it’s okay for me to do this, the following text is printed in the footer of the PDFs that are downloaded from VTK: “This material is proprietary to GSUSA and may be used, reproduced, distributed exclusively by GSUSA staff, councils, Girl Scout volunteers, service units and/or troops solely in connection with Girl Scouting.”
