Worst. Survey. Ever.
I usually don’t do things like this, but I just wanted to bring attention to the absolutely most low key effort survey out there when it comes to the membership dues proposals. As my daughter says, this is Beta Ohio. Dog water. Not demure and not very mindful. And they actually use the words “democratic process” on this form.
Edit on 10/14/24: Well, looks like they pulled the form. Basically it was obvious that the leadership of that council already made their mind up to vote for $85 dues for girls and asked one question so that they could twist the results to match what they wanted.
This is on par with the British media surveys that result in Prince Willy being named the most handsome guy in the empire. As my college professor always said, “Garbage in, garbage out”. You can’t have good results starting from the lowest common denominator.
What is the asterisk for? It gives no space to add comments just a blank slate which appears to me they are not giving an option
Wow! Was someone paid to collect demographic data on members? I see only three questions. Where’s the opportunity to “share perspective” for feedback on the actual issue? Haley, the asterisk means there MUST be an answer, responder may not leave blank.
What survey? It didn’t get to the actual subject. It seems that they throughout the survey because they had to do something.
Economic discrimination at its best- making the least of us have even less. So thoughtful. Good job GIrl Scouts!
I am on the Membership Voice Committee serving GS Virginia Skyline. My council needs examples of bylaws that encourage membership voice. Currently we have delegates to the annual meeting elected at the service unit to be the voice of Girl Scouts from counties. Some counties/service units do not have any Girl Scouts. Delegate training (on line) and participation in a Decision Influencing Meeting (on line) is required to be able to vote.
The annual meeting standing rules have always allowed delegates to vote and make proposals. We, I hope, now have standing rules that recognize people who are in attendance to speak ONLY but not to vote or present proposals.
How do we encourage participation in the governance procedure? Does anyone have bylaws that state anyone who attends can vote? Would it be better to give a vote to each troop? But then an older girl troop would only have one spokesperson.
Does your council have an older girl planning board?
Hi Barbara – I emailed you directly.
