Thank You!
Thanks to everyone for your input and comments after my post the other day. I also had people reach out to me via phone calls and texts and even had lunch with friends today which helped. I am very blessed to have such a supportive community of friends and colleagues that I can lean on when things are overwhelming. A friend pointed out that within the past year, I have lost the communities that were grounding me, so it’s no wonder I feel disconnected and disengaged. This was very obvious once she pointed it out, but when you’re mired in the muck, the mud gets in your eyes and it’s hard to see. Once I realized this, a lot of things made sense, and it helped me reorient my way of thinking. I just need to readjust some priorities and be more patient. Thanks again for your support and comments. You are all very special to me.
Dear Girl Scout with a Cause,
I wish Ihad your insight. I wish I knew how to “dig” for things. I have learned a lot from you as well as other Girl Scout adults that Refered me to your blog. I have to tell you the thing that got me so fired up was the membership dues increase which is absurd when you think about it…It hurts to the core knowing all of the misused, mismanaged, abuse of all of our membership dues from the past. I want to make “them” pay, but I don’t know how to dig for it. I would like to know exactly how much from each Council has to pay for their Charter with GSUSA. I asked my Council this because most of their money comes from cookie sells, so I want to know how much from the cookie sells goes to pay for the Charter. I’m tired of the “run around” that I get when my Council says that ALL cookie sells stays within mu Council…I’m like no it doesn’t, your are forced to pay for the horrible IT website and you have to pay a Charter fee….so how much of the cookie sells goes to pay for this? I can’t get that answer. Do you know the answer? Is it a percentage of what the Council make’s from cookie sells? GSUSA’s whole existence is from girls and volunteers paying to be called Girl Scouts. I want GSUSA to “understand” that!
I want ALL disgruntled Volunteers to stand united against the membership hike. I think we can send a collective message by withholding ou membership payments until the very late September. I think that GSUSA depends heavily on the early bird renewal of troops giving their money early and throwing a “bone” to us by taking off $5 of renewal membership. I’ll say it again, I hope GSUSA FAILS! Because it’s a Volunteer Lead organization. The truth is, we really don’t need all of the stupid stuff they have thrown our way. I wish we could all band together, because a Voice has strength in numbers; I feel certain there are enough of “Us” out ther3 that WE can make that happen! Your guidance and opinion matter to me because you know so much with everything. That is why, “ I need you!”
